Free time for lunch before going to Guimaraes: orientation guided tour in the afternoon. Guimares was the birthplace of the Kingdom of Portugal and the European capital of culture in 2012. Return to Porto (one hour drive, 37 miles).
9:00 AM departure for a full day guided excursion to the Douro Valley. Transfer by coach to Lamego ( 2 hour drive, 83 miles).
Visit La Quinta da Pacheca, its vineyards and the old winery: lunch and wine tasting.
Return to Porto via Vila Nova de Gaia where you will have a round trip journey on the Douro River doing the 6 Bridges River Cruise.
9:00 AM you leave Porto for Coimbra, which is known to be one of the oldest universities in Europe (2 hour drive, 77 miles): Walking guided city tour on arrival.
Free time for lunch.

Return to Lisbon in the evening.

Visit the Palace of Monserrate and the park, then continue to Cascais, a charming fishing town which became a popular resort.
Free time for lunch and return to Lisbon for a few hours at leisure.
