DAY 1 - Departure

 

Overview:

June 6, 2019 is the celebration of D-day and the Battle of Normandy. Millions of visitors have planned to come and visit for the Jubilee commemoration and pay tribute to the heroes of this unprecedented landing in presence of a few veterans, still alive. They were Americans, Canadians, British, Polish, French, Australians, New Zealanders among others who came from all over the world. Most were under 20 years of age. They all chose to cross oceans and continents to come to Normandy to defend the universal values of peace and freedom.

 

Departure from JFK for an overnight non-stop flight to London.

 

 8:00  PM Check-in at Delta counter, terminal 4

DAY 2 - LONDON ARRIVAL

10:50 AM arrival London Heathrow.  Assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. Check-in at Hotel Doubletree by Hilton, London Docklands Riverside for 1 night.

 

2:00 PM – 6:00 PM 4 hour guide and coach services.  Afternoon orientation tour of London to see the main landmarks of the British Capital but the focus will mostly refer on WWII as you visit the British Capital. Walking tour in the central area to see: The Strand, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square,Covent Garden. Your guide will tell you about London during “THE BLITZ’, which lasted from September 1940 until May 1941. One third of the city was destroyed.

 

Welcome dinner at Hotel Doubletree by Hilton, London Docklands Riverside.

 

 

 

DAY 3 - LONDON PORTSMOUTH

9:00 AM Departure from Hotel to go and visit the Imperial War Museum which opens at 10:00AM. 3 hour guide services. The tour includes a visit to the Cabinet War Rooms, where Prime Minister Churchill and the Allied Commanders planned the Allied war efforts.

 

TIme for lunch (not included) at the Museum Cafe, before continuing to Portsmouth: 75 miles /1h ½ drive

 

3:30 PM: Upon arrival in Portsmouth: guided tour of the D-DAY museum where the epic story of June 1944 invasion is represented by unique and personal experiences. The Museum closes at 5:30PM. After the visit to the Museum, a short orientation city tour to see the main landmarks of Portsmouth. Guide services for 3 hours.

 

Check-in at Ibis Portsmouth Center Hotel for 1 night.

 

DAY 4 - PORTSMOUTH - DEAUVILLE

Early breakfast.

 

6:30 AM Transfer from hotel to pier

 

7:00 AM Assistance at the Pier to check-in at the International Port ferry terminal

 

8:15 AM. Ferry departure. Lunch is included on board: The ferry will take the same navy road followed 75 years ago by 156 115 allied soldiers and paratroopers among which were 59 000 US soldiers. 200 000 vehicles of all kinds were also transported on that day.

 

12:30 PM 3 course menu lunch will be served on the ferry.

 

3:00 PM arrival at the ferry terminal in Caen – Ouistreham – Meet your tour escort who will travel with the group as you travel in France. Drive to Deauville: 38 miles.

 

4:00 PM Guided orientation tour of Deauville by tour escort before going to HOTEL DU GOLF BARRIERE. Introduction to French culture.

 

Check-in for 4 nights at Hotel du Golf Barriere a 5 star luxury hotel, 2 miles from the beach and the centre of town,

 

 

DAY 5 - DEAUVILLE Normandy D-Day Celebrations

Today celebration may take place in any city or village of Normandy which is officially celebrating D-Day. Activities to be advised 75th anniversary ceremonies that commemorate the Normandy Landing of June 6, 1944.

DAY 6 - - DEAUVILLE

Full-day guided excursion to the Normandy Landing Beaches

9:00 AM Departure by coach to visit the landing beaches of Normandy. In Colleville-sur-Mer, visit the Normandy American Cemetery. A Memorial Community project has been prepared by the students to leave American Flags on the graves of veterans known in their community. Visit Pointe du Hoc, the highest point between Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. Visit also Utah Beach D-Day Museum and try to visualize what happened 75 years ago.

 

Return to Deauville via Sainte-Mere-Eglise where you visit the Airborne Museum.

DAY 7 - DEAUVILLE

Caen is 38 miles, one hour drive, away from Deauville.

9:00 AM departure by coach to Caen.

 

10:00 AM Morning city tour including Caen Memorial Museum.

 

Continuation to Return to Deauville in the afternoon for a free afternoon in the Normandy resort.

 

 

 

 

DAY 8 - ROISSY - CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT

9:00 AM morning departure for Paris. 125 miles 2 H ½ drive. Lunch stop on arrival near the Forum des Halles (lunch not included).

 

2:00 PM Meet your guide for a 3 hour sightseeing tour of Paris to see the main landmarks of the French Capital. 4 hour guided tour with walking part around the Louvre, the Opera and the Champs Elysees.

5:00 PM Seine River Cruise

 

6:30 PM Farewell dinner

 

9:00 PM Check-in at Best Western Charles de Gaulle Hotel for one night. End of tour escort services

 

DAY 9 - RETURN

 

7:30 AM Coach transfer to Delta terminal and Check-in at Delta counter

 

10:20 AM DL#119 leaves Charles de Gaulle Airport

 

12:52 PM Arrival JFK, Terminal 4
