OAXACA CITY TOUR & INTRODUCTION TO LOCAL FOOD
Departure for a guided walking tour of Oaxaca. As you visit the historical district of the city you will taste various street food, specialties of Oaxacan cuisine. Your tour includes visits to the Glorious Church of Santo Domingo and to the Museum of Oaxacan Culture.
You’ll lunch at Delicious Smoke Corridor within the 20th of November market. In the afternoon, chocolate tasting at the best mills of the city.

LOCAL MARKET & COOKING CLASS WITH CHEF OSCAR CARRISOZA
Walk nearby to meet with Chef Oscar Carrisoza, explore the neighborhood market to identify the local products and buy ingredients for the cooking class. Learn with Oscar the culinary secrets of Oaxacan cuisine as you participate in the preparation of a 6-course luncheon.
Rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure.
ABASTOS MARKET & COOKING CLASS WITH CHEF ALEJANDRO RUIZ
Drive outside of Oaxaca to the awesome Mercado de Abastos; then visit a special organic farm and animal barn near the village of Zaachila. This special cooking class is led by Chef Alejandro Ruiz and followed by a festive group. “Comida / supper” afterward.
Return to Oaxaca and free evening
“DIA DE LOS MUERTOS” TRADITIONS
Drive to the Indian Zapotec village of Teotitlan del Valle, visit the traditional local market and the XVI Century Church ; then, meet with a local family and learn about the “Nixtamal”corn cooking tradition as well as help prepare a delicious lunch.
Enjoy lunch, followed by a weaving demo using natural dyes.
Continue by coach to the baker’s village of Santo Domingo Tomaltepec, famous for their special Day of the Dead egg yolk bread and return to Oaxaca.
Participate in the make up session to be prepared for the Day of the Dead late night and your visit to the cemetery. As most of the locals do; your face will be painted and scary.
We’ll go by coach to the village of Xoxocotlan to enjoy the night celebrations, visiting the village cemeteries with a great “Tlayuda” dinner.
DAY OF THE DEAD TRADITIONS
Morning drive to go and visit the ancient Zapotec city of Monte Alban. Enjoy a festive lunch at traditional restaurant “Raices”. Visit the community of Soledad, Etla and join a special “Comparsa” Day of the Dead Parade, from one village to another with brass bands leading the way.
OAXACA AMAZING FOLK ART
Leave by coach to the village of Ocotlan to meet the Aguilar Sisters, fine potters of Day of the Dead figures. See also the wood carvers of the famous mythical sculptures called “Alebrijes”. In the afternoon visit the famed black pottery village of San Bartolo Coyotepec.
Return to Oaxaca in the afternoon. Remainder of the day at leisure
Tonight, walk nearby for a festive farewell dinner at Oaxaca best restaurant Casa Oaxaca, run by Alejandro Ruiz, the Chef you met earlier.
Group transfer to the airport for your return to the U.S.A.
