DAY 1 - DEPARTURE

Friday May 31st, 2024

Evening flight leaving the USA. airfare is not included. Celestial Voyagers can help you to find the best schedule and the est value ticket to go to palermo and return from Catania

DAY 2 - PALERMO

Saturday June 1st, 2024

Meal: Dinner

Individual arrival transfer can be arranged on arrival to reach your hotel but is not included.

Check-in for 3 nights at our hotel located in the city center. Go and visit Palazzo Mirto in the afternoon if time allow; then meet your travel companion at a welcome dinner

DAY 3 - PALERMO

Sunday June 2nd, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, dinner

9:00 AM departure by coach for morning excursion to Monreale

Entrance to the Duomo and the Chiostro. Experience the Pane di Monreale at a local bakery and enjoy some free time in the village.

3:00 PM return to Palermo for a cooking class and dinner.

DAY 4 - PALERMO

Monday June 3rd, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, lunch

 Morning guided walking tour of Palermo. 

Visit the Norman Palace,  the  Palatine Chapel and Palazzo Mirto (if opened on May 1st)

For lunch we will sample the various Sicilian specialties at the local market. Dinner on your own

 

DAY 5 - AGRIGENTO

Tuesday June 4th, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, lunch

Departure for  Trapani where we’ll briefly see the rempart and center ot the old town.

Couscous cooking demo: the Chef will show how to prepare a sicilian-style couscous that we will taste for our lunch with delicious local wines

Continuation to the salt paddies of Marsala; tour the Salt Pans and refresh with an afternoon

Aperitivo at Mamma Caura before taking the road towards Agrigento    

Check in at a countryside Hotel for 2 nights.  Hotel dinner on your own.

DAY 6 - AGRIGENTO

Wednesday June 5th, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, lunch

Morning guided walking tour of the Valley of the Temples, a must-see Sicilian archeological site. 

Continuation to Naro, a little village where we’ll be able to taste a typical Sicilian lunch in a local family place.  A promenade in Naro to go and see the old castle on top of the hill will help our digestion!

DAY 7 - AGRIGENTO - SYRACUSE

Thursday June 6th, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, lunch

Morning drive from Agrigento  to Scicli where we will visit an herb farm and enjoy the lunch prepared by the farmers.

We’ll continue to Modica, known for its chocolate. Here we’ll see a chocolate demo and have a unique Chocolate experience: hands on workshop and of course tasting!

Continuation to Syracuse. Check-in at hotel for 2 nights

DAY 8 - SYRACUSE

Friday June 7th, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

First we’ll go and see Dionyssos Ear famous for its acoustic properties; then our local guide will take us for a walk through  Ortigia; a “foodies” tour will be part of the visit as well as our lunch; we’ll see the cathedral, the old town, and the market

Afternoon cooking class and dinner.

DAY 9 - TAORMINA

Saturday June 8th, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, lunch

Departure for an excursion to Mount Etna; view the volcano and the rich agricultural land surrounding the mountain; enjoy the cable car ride if weather allows.

Lunch and wine tasting at the Gambino Winery. Continuation to Taormina and check-in at our hotel for 2 nights. Promenade in this quaint  little town with a Granita experience and more at local pastry shop.

 

DAY 10 - TAORMINA

Sunday June 9th, 2024

Meals: Breakfast, dinner

Morning walking guided tour including Antique Greek theater

Afternoon at leisure until it is time for a cooking class and our farewell dinner at the home of Chef Massino

DAY 11 - RETURN

Monday June 10th, 2024

Morning departure by coach to reach Catania airport in the morning is included.

AIR SCHEDULE

This trip is a land only program. You can book your airline ticket prior to travel.
Celestial Voyagers is an IATA licensed tour operator. We will be able to advise the best schedule, the best routing and best value for your airline ticket to Palermo and returning from Catania. Please contact us before booking your flights.

There is one hour drive from Taormina to Catania airport, we advise you to have your return flight out from Catania with a late morning or afternoon departure.

Should you use frequent flier points or choose to purchase your airline ticket on your own, please provide us with a copy of your schedule.

You may have to book additional private transfers between the airport and your hotel.

Celestial Voyagers Terms & Conditions relate to specific contracts with their Italian partners. Aliza Culinary & Cultural Tours, Celestial Voyagers and all their partners in Sicily will surpass your expectations and deliver a trip of superior quality.

We may adjust the program, but we will commit to creating the best possible program for guests with safety, comfort, and ease our top priorities.

Payment Schedule

A deposit of $750  is paid on line at time of registration and will guarantee your space and the type of room you wish to reserve. We do recommend registering as soon as possible.

Final payment is due by  Friday, March 15, 2024.

Should you register after Friday, March 15, 2024,  full payment is due; deposit can be paid on line and the balance due should follow as soon as you receive your invoice.

Cancellations

CANCELLATION BY THE PARTICIPANT:

Your deposit is refundable up to  Friday, March 1, 2024 minus $350 processing fee.
For cancellation received in writing between Saturday, March 2, 2024 and Monday, March 18, 2024, the deposit is non refundable.
For cancellation received in writing between Tuesday, March 19 and Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the penalty is 50 % of the trip value.
For cancellation received in writing after Tuesday, April 16, 2024 and in case of no show the penalty is 100% of the trip value.

Should you be able to provide a new participant to take your place the name change fee will be waived and no penalty will apply.

We highly recommend to take a travel insurance to protect yourself from these penalties.

 

CANCELLATION BY TOUR OPERATOR:

All trips will operate with a minimum of 6 participants. We do recommend whenever you can to register early.

If by Friday, March 15, 2024, the minimum number of participants has not been reached the trip will be postponed and you will receive a full refund.

Travel Insurance

We advise all travelers to purchase travel insurance in case of any unforeseen circumstances and if you are no longer able to travel. We offer the following insurance policies through Allianz Travel Insurance: Basic, Classic, and Classic with cancel anytime. Prices vary with age and amount insured.

Passport

Most countries require that a passport be valid for six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires before December 10, 2024, you must apply to renew your passport.

Visa

If you are not a US citizen please check with the consulate of Spain or a visa agency for the latest requirements. You will also need a re-entry permit to return to the USA
